How would approved referendum questions affect property taxes?

We ask that you look at this investment in our community’s schools like another expense in your monthly budget. The tax impact for the three questions is less than A FRIDAY NIGHT PIZZA DINNER for the average family. (click on the red box to calculate your Tax Impact)
If Question 1, the operating levy, is approved, the estimated property tax impact is $173 per year, or $14.42 per month, on a home worth $125,000 (median home value in Ogilvie School District).
If Question 2, a bond referendum is approved, it would have an estimated property tax impact of $140 per year, or $11.67 per month, on a home worth $125,000 (median home value in Ogilvie School District).
If Question 3, a bond referendum is approved, it would have an estimated property tax impact of $67 per year, or $5.58 per month, on a home worth $125,000 (median home value in Ogilvie School District).
If all three questions are approved, property taxes for the owner of a $125,000 home, the average value in the district, would increase by $380 per year, or $31.67 per month.
Will we get any assistance from the state?
If question 1 is successful, the state will provide $70,000 in aid and an additional $180,000 if both questions 2 and 3 are successful for a total of $250,000.
Our agricultural community would also see additional relief with the Ag2School property tax credit. The legislature successfully passed legislation in the 2019 session to increase the Ag2School for agricultural property from 40% to 70%, in a phased approach. It is now currently at 70% for taxes payable in 2023. This is permanent law and is shown as a tax credit on your property tax bill. Tax credit applies to current and future school bond referendums for all property classified as agricultural (excluding the house, garage and one acre).
If both questions 2 and 3 pass, approximately $1.7 million of the $9.8 million bond amount (or 17.1%) would be paid by the state over the life of the bond.
